We're have a last blast of summer, and on the last day, i decided to go back to the Leslie Street Spit for a walk-around. I was a little late in getting going, so i wasn't there until around 2 pm.

Satellite image of the spit.

Some pretty purple wildflowers.

I thought this was goldenrod, but now i dunno. It was pretty common, anyway.

Sad little plant.

Late summer meadows.

One of the paths.

Random chili peppers on the gravel.

Looking west along the lakeshore.

Seadooer.

Looking over a few bays and peninsulas and the harbour to the downtown.

Milkweed.

I was walking, but the place was dominated by cyclists - this is the main (asphalt) path.

Dead carcass - raccoon, i think.

Grasshopper. NOT hard at work... when will he learn?!

Dead duck. Or goose, maybe.

What?

Ohhh...

Not sure what most of these birds are (there are a few ducks). They were pretty far away.

The bridge.

Shot from the bridge.

From the other side of the bridge - as far southwest as i went. (Notice the person NOT dismounting).

Back on the bridge.

Random shot of cyclists. Seriously!

Raccoon tracks, i think.

Yeah, who doesn't want to eat at "Icky Sushi"?

What century is this?

I didn't have a map with me - i originally thought i was trailing along the outer path. My plan was to do that, then turn west, and back along the inner path. As it turns out, i didn't go as nearly far as i'd thought, but then i didn't realize how far it was. I though it was a couple of kilometres to the end, so maybe a 4 km round trip. It turns out i actually did around 7 km, which is like going from Union Station to Eglinton. Criminy! If i'd gone the route i'd planned, it would've been 11-12 km. No wonder most people were biking.

I was kinda tired the next day, and i couldn't think what to do. Since i've been wanting Chinese dumplings ever since i had some at the Lantern Festival, i planned to go get some Chinese food for lunch. It was kind of a disaster.

Firstly, when a customer comes in to order, try to smile and be welcoming. I got takeaway: a combo, and a side order, and then went to sit in my car. It was a TON of food, way more than i expected. And no cutlery of any kind. Okay, i guess it's just takeaway and not 'fast food'. Picked some up at a convenience store, along with a ginger ale. The chicken fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, and chicken chop suey (it was actually chow mein, but whatever) were all good, but i barely finished half before i had to toss it. I bit into the spring roll, gagged and had to spit it out. No idea what it was i didn't like, but it was nothing like any spring roll i've had before, and i've had fresh ones, Thai, Vet and chef-made specials, and the deep fried ones, from sushi places, and Spring Rolls restaurant. The dumplings tasted okay (not as good as the others i had), but were huge and hard to eat, and i could only manage two before i gave up.

When i got to the bookstore, i gathered all the half-eaten stuff to toss (sad, i know), and discovered the fortune cookies. I opened one (after a struggle!) and bit into it.

I ended up spitting it onto the parking lot pavement. It really capped the experience.

The actual fortune. I saved the other one to photocopy later.
